They asked me to blog on here so everyone could get to know me a little better... I thought it might be fun to write about one of my early experiences as a babysitter. I think that I must have been fourteen at the time. Anyhow, so I had sent out business cards to all the parents at my local swim & racquet club and I got a call to babysit on a Friday night for two girls, ages 5 and 7. I was really excited and showed up at 5 like the mother had asked me to. The 7 year old, let's call her Lily, was sitting on top of the refrigerator! I asked the mother how she had gotten up there and the mother told me that Lily likes to climb up there to sit. After the parent's left I tried to get Lily to climb down to eat some dinner and she wouldn't budge. I wasn't really sure what to do at the time. Lily needed to eat some dinner and I hated seeing her up on the refrigerator like that. So I came up with a plan: I told Lily that her little sister, Gretchen, and I were going to play a super fun game but she could only play if she came down and ate some supper. Lily quickly came down from the refrigerator and ate some dinner. As a treat, we all played a made-up game that I call Bippity-Boppity which consists of a lot of bunny-hopping. Which also got them tired and ready to hop on into bed! |

Meet: Jessie H.
Rx for Finding a Great Pediatrician
Let’s face it, good doctors can be hard to find. And when it comes to your kid, second best won’t cut it. Referrals are great but if you’re new to a city or don’t like the doctor recommended to you. See below for two great sites with terrific ideas!
Let's Get Crafty!
Here are some great ideas on arts and crafts for kids of all ages.
Our personal favorites include: the autograph t-shirt pillow and the birthday crown!
Say good night to bedtime problems
Every child is different. Some hate their vegetables, some have trouble sharing, and some kids just don’t like saying goodnight. Here at University Sitters, we found a great article that can address the several problems associated with bedtime and tricks that can help your kid go to bed easier. It’s finally time to put this problem to rest.
